The Night Life.

So as a lot of people know I live in Hamilton. Studying at the University.
I remember when I first told people I was going to Hamilton, they all said it's coz I wanted to be a "party girl", going there for the drinking and the partying. And when I was 17, sure I drunk every now and then, I didn't like getting totally wasted, after a couple of bad experiences, and I wouldn't call myself a Party girl.
Anyway, it's O-week this week, for those of you who don't know that is Orientation week, basically it's where you have a week of getting to know the Uni, there's a ton of party's in town and you get a lot of free stuff.
Last year because I was a first year, I was excited about a O-week, going out to town, going "clubbing", dancing, making friends.
This year however, my views have changed somewhat.

We went out Monday night, yes. I went to town on a Monday night. wuttt! It was the beach party and a foam party and I had some sort of realization I guess. As I was dancing with my sundress on and my shorts and my jandles I looked around me and what I saw was kind of horrid.
You could tell who the first years are, because

  1. They were short
  2. They were all very drunk
  3. They screamed every time a good song came on
Me and my friends were happily dancing and this girl who must have been just 18 came dancing up to us, she was petite with short brown hair and big eyes. She grabbed hold of me and danced with us, totally drunk, no idea who she was dancing with. (I had no idea who she was). Anyway, after about a song and a half of Awkward dancing, she went off. About half an hour later, we went to get a drink of water and I saw that same girl and her friend dancing in the paddling pool, in what I am hoping was their bikinis with about 5 other guys dancing with them.
It made me feel sad, this girl looked only just old enough to drink, and her she was drunk, dancing in a paddling pool, in a bar, on a monday night.
Where were her friends??
Then last night, we went to the "Jungle Party" and "Mexican" party. Town was dead this time, again you could tell who the first years were. All the bars were filled with skinny, sluts dressed as cats, or cave woman.

Anyways, the basic principles of this post is to say that, yes I like going out, dressing up, dancing and having a good time. But you don't have to have a ton of alcohol in your system or dress like a hooker to have fun and dance.
I think after O-week, I won't be going out much because well, town does get boring, after a while. It's all the same music, the same alcohol, the same drunk people. Nothing ever changes and slowly the "coolness" of the Hamilton nightlife wears off.
